Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to choose a specific type of massage when booking?
No. If you’re unsure what type of massage is best, your therapist can help guide the session based on your goals and preferences.
Is massage therapy focused on relaxation or pain relief?
Both. Some patients come in primarily for relaxation, while others are looking for relief from muscle tension or soreness. Most sessions incorporate a balance of both depending on your needs.
Do you offer prenatal massage?
Yes. Prenatal massage is available with a therapist who has specialized training to support comfort and safety throughout pregnancy.
What is the difference between Swedish and deep tissue massage?
Swedish massage uses lighter pressure and flowing strokes to promote relaxation and circulation, while deep tissue massage uses slower, more focused pressure to address deeper muscle tension and tightness.
What is reflexology?
Reflexology is a technique that applies targeted pressure to specific points on the feet, hands, or ears that are believed to correspond with different areas of the body, helping promote relaxation and overall balance.
What is myofascial therapy?
Myofascial therapy focuses on releasing tension in the fascia (the connective tissue that surrounds muscles) using sustained pressure and stretching to help reduce tightness and improve mobility.
How often should I get massage therapy?
That depends on your goals. Some patients come occasionally for relaxation, while others schedule regular sessions to support recovery, mobility, or ongoing tension.
Do you accept insurance for massage therapy?
We are a cash-based clinic and do not bill insurance directly. Massage sessions are paid for at the time of your visit. We’re happy to provide a receipt if you’d like to submit it to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Can I use HSA or FSA funds for massage therapy?
Many patients are able to use Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) funds for massage therapy, depending on their individual plan. We recommend confirming eligibility with your plan administrator.
Should I choose a 60-minute or 90-minute massage?
A 60-minute session works well for focused work on one or two areas of tension. A 90-minute session allows more time for deeper therapeutic work while still providing a relaxing, full-body experience.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear whatever feels comfortable. Your therapist will explain everything before the session begins and will always prioritize your comfort while using appropriate draping.
